DJ The Baker

My name is Hasan Cumberbatch. Growing up, I often watched my mom in the kitchen preparing meals; whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner. The aroma of the foods was always quite interesting and often made me stay in the kitchen. I was encouraged to add spices and other flavors to the tasty home cooked meals and soon I was trying things on my own. I became very interested in cooking.

After I graduated from high school, I enrolled and succesfully graduated from the internship program at Sunflower Bakery, where I learned to make cookies, cakes, breads and a variety of baked items. I also completed the ServSafe Food Handler certification.

I love baking and experimenting with recipes, especially mixing Caribbean flavors and spices in my recipes. It has been difficult for me to find employment as I have learning differences, I therefore started my small business with the assistance of my parents. My business gives me the opportunity to continue baking and improving my baked goods for people to enjoy. I bake scones, cakes, breads, muffins, cookies, cupcakes and other goodies at home. I currently sell my Baked Goods at Asbury (once a month) and Deerwood Farmers marker (which just ended) I also sell to persons who place orders with me.
